Rice to go with the suqaar

Ingredients

2 cups basmati rice, rinsed until liquid is clear

1 tablespoon oil

1 tablespoon curry

1 tablespoon cumin

1 pinch salt

2 cinnamon sticks

5 cardamom pods, crushed

5 cloves, crushed

3 cups water

Preparation

Heat oil in a large pot.

Add the spices and stir until dissolved.

Add the rice and stir-fry for 1 minute to coat the rice with the oil.

Add the water and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to very low and cover.

Cook for 15–20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is gone
