Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups basmati rice, rinsed
- 2 ½ cups water or broth
- 1 lb beef or chicken, cubed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
- Cook Meat: Heat oil in a pot. Add meat, season with salt and pepper, and brown for 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Cook Rice: In the same pot, sauté onion until soft. Add rice, water or broth, cumin, and browned meat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer 15-20 minutes.
- Serve: Fluff rice and serve with grilled or stewed meat on the side.
